EPOQUE DESAIX - Opinion
Continuing the French Nation
March 29th, 2026
Marielle Peletier, a lifelong citizen of Lyon, looks longingly from her third-story window onto the cobblestone passages of her cramped alleyway while crocheting a large afghan consisting of three distinct colors. Her husband is away at the copper plating factory in the industrial district, and only brings back meager wages of overinflated Francs, if anything at all. Miss Peletier is unsure of her husband’s future, as since the French collapse, everything in Lyon has seemed to be on the decline. Miss Peletier explains that Variety goods are becoming harder to accumulate, with only bread and milk being widely available to the public; many foodstuffs find themselves in the underground markets of Lyon, with most coming from East Dijon and other Auvergenois border towns, where harvests have remained stable since the era of Peter Julian. No news comes from Aix-en-Provence on the formation of a new government, leaving the future of France unknown.
In Lyon, hundreds of thousands of citizens are experiencing the same uncertainty of the future. Work is hard to acquire, and wages are paltry. Despite the socialist government claiming fruitlessly that the economy is only in a state of temporary stagnation, it is clear to Miss Peletier and her husband that things could not be going downhill faster.
The Auvergne Council, now recently reconvened publicly, has been making strides to incorporate border towns on the verge of collapse as to prevent widespread famine in France, with many Councilmembers from Guinefortisme! and the NRF speaking publicly on the idea of Vichy declaring itself the capital of the French people, and uniting the nation once more under a united banner of unitary democracy. Councilmember Sacha Veil of the NRF said as much last Sunday at a public rally in Limoges, detailing his party’s idea of a new French republic to succeed the unsuccess of the most recent Napoleon and his corrupt council that led the nation into economic collapse. Upon a reporter inquiring into whether the NRF’s plan for unification involved the reintegration of the Rhineland, Veil stated that “I look not to gain the reputation of my predecessors as a conqueror of the Rhine, but I do believe that the self-deterministic values of all people should be fully realized, regardless of the feelings of any occupier.". Veil's answer was met with warm applause from the large crowd, signaling that the people of Auvergne support unification.
In a time of unpredictability, we believe that the way forward is to carve a path for a new France and her people. We cannot allow hardworking French men and women like the Peletier’s to flounder their gift of life. With time, we can become the stewards of good to this new France, and all under its banner shall be free and prosperous.
