New Washington Annexed by Brittany. City to be Renamed!

After months of charting, Governor Sartre has finally released a detailed plan regarding the formalizing of New Washington into the French Federation. Within the days, Bretons will be allowed to enter the majority-American remnant city and establish a regional council that abides by the Federation’s democratic system, American delegates notwithstanding. This choice of inclusion by the French of American politicians comes to the chagrin of much of the Breton political sphere, as Bretons were allowed no such liberties under the American Empire. While Sarte has made no private remarks regarding the law, we can only assume that such enforcements were due to American elements within Lyon who look to undermine our infant nation.

In addition to the city’s federation, Sartre has permitted a competition to be held to decide the new name of the eastmost region, specifying that it must be “Breton in nature and practice, and free from any ideological bias.”. While several constituents within Brittany have submitted their own recommendations for the new name of the city, the majority of citizens agree that, to honor the Breton-born governor of Auvergne, New Washington should be renamed to ‘Armelsville’, though Sartre himself expressed his opposition to naming the city after his likeness, saying that it “Patronizes my acts, as I have only done the bare minimum to secure the sovereignty of the Breton people.”.
