The SECN (Sociedad Espanola de Construcciones Navales) is a state-monopolized shipbuilding firm merging the Republican and Nationalist shipyards into one industrial enterprise. Formed into existence by the Royal Charter #76 "For the reconstruction and expansion of the Spanish Armada" The SECN will be tasked with the retrofitting and construction of Spanish military vessels both for domestic use and foreign export. Financed largely by the Spanish treasury and stock ownership shared between the Spanish government and English shipbuilding firms, the SECN will adopt a mix of Spanish and English shipbuilding design. Plans are being drawn up for upgrades of existing vessels such as improved fire control systems, the introduction of radar and sonar technology, upgraded gunnery and torpedoes, improved armor schemes, and the reintroduction of battleships to the Spanish Navy, the last of which were lost during the Sardinian-Spanish War of 2000.
