Governor Sartre: “International cooperation is paramount for Breton development.” Calls for Preliminary Ceasefire Surrounding the Island

With the decision to bring Brittany into the fold of the French Federation becoming a near reality for Auvergne, Governor Sartre has called upon the international community to respect the sovereignty of Brittany relative to the Franco-Prussian conflict, declaring that the island is of no inherent strategic purpose, and therefore should not be occupied by either French or German allied forces for the duration of the war, as doing so would be of “No assistance to the development and recovery of the Breton people since the American occupation.”

Sartre’s agreement with Breton politicians to federate the island comes at an awkward time in French geopolitics. Germany and Luxembourg have been declared enemies as armies rally to the Rhine; the Ordre de Saint-Guinefort militia notwithstanding. Sartre announced his anti-war declaration to local press in a small cottage, near an army encampment on the Alliers, on the border of the Raisonard state. Addressing this seeming hypocrisy, Sartre agreed to an interview with the Vichy Times shortly after the declaration was made.

“The Bretons did not affirm their right to go to war as we in France did.” States Sartre, “Their men, instead of being brought into the military, will be enlisted by their communities to rebuild and rejuvenate the cultures and practices which the Americans destroyed in their brutal ignorance. Due to nearly sixty years of American debauchery, pilgrimages such as Tro Breizh have been halted, leaving thousands of my fellow men without their own link to the past; without identity. This is something which I hope to mend as a man of Breton lineage, as it would be an affront to my ancestors if I did not allow these practices to rise from the ashes of Americanism.”

The Grandmaster-Governor went on, exclaiming calmly that he means well to all individuals of the island while simultaneously claiming that ‘satanic American culture’ has brought the downfall of a proud French and Breton identity that had thrived for thousands of years before the deluge. Due to this, he implores that Bretons do not look to the past, but towards the future of their proud culture, food, dance, etc., and that the current ‘fragility of the Breton culture itself’ will be ‘rebuilt to greatness’ within the Federation.

With this, Sartre went on in detail of how no military assets will be stationed on the island but a paltry citizen’s militia comprised entirely of native Bretons, saying that “I wish no war to come to the Breton people so long as this brutal conflict rages on in the Rhine. The Bretons have no place in it, as they have not been the ones to declare it.”

As it stands, it has been signed into law that no Breton man shall serve in the French military for as long as the Franco-Prussian war continues, and that all Breton citizens should focus on cultural rehabilitation on the island. It has also been reported by Councilmembers that Vichy shall contribute several millions of dollars to Brittany-based infrastructure funds in hopes of establishing a completely autonomous economy by 2030.
