Background

The Qemalist Republic of Dardania is a nation built upon a very unique and individual ideology compared to the rest of the post-Deluge world. From Dardania's formation it has existed as a Qemalist state, built upon the ideological evolution of the Dardanian founding father Grand Master Ismail Qemali. Originally Qemalism formed as a constitutionalist, liberal, and nationalist ideology. Over the years however, Qemalism has been defined into two main currents:

• i Matur (Conservative/Traditional Qemalism)

i Matur is defined by a strict adherence and literalistic submission to the Qemali five principles.

• Ushtarak-i Pari (Military-First Policy)
• Unionizmi (Federalism)
• Artizanatishenjtë (Masonic Guidance)
• Gjeorgjizma (Dardanian Georgism)
• Kalorësia (Aristocratic/Stratocratic Guided Democracy, ‘Noble Soldiers’)

Followers of i Matur take a very literal view of these five principles, usually promoting laws that cement the military's noble position in society, ensuring only Georgist economic policies are enacted, and promoting provincial rights across Dardania. The leading faction of the The Committee for Law and Progress (Komiteti për Ligjin dhe Progresin) known as the Righteous Guides of the Revolution (Udhëzuesit e Drejtë të Revolucionit) is traditionally followers of i Matur.

• i Bollshëm (Liberal/Progressive Qemalism)

Followers of i Bollshëm have tried to modernise Qemalism into the 21st century, utilising progressive social programs, social democracy, fabianism, and a very soft view on Freemasonry. Within Dardania there is not a large percentage of i Bollshëm followers, but despite this they are large enough to be somewhat of a 'checks and balances' system within the The Assembly of the Brave (Asambleja e Trimave).

Elections in Dardania

In the Qemalist Republic of Dardania the electoral system is directly influenced by the Qemalist principles. In Dardania there are three legislative bodies:

• The Assembly of the Brave (Asambleja e Trimave)
• The Masonic Senate (Senati Masonik)
• The Ancient Sanhedrin (Sinedri i Lashtë)

The Assembly of the Brave is the lower legislative body within the Republic. The Assembly is used to consider and pass new laws and amendments or changes to existing laws. Any Assemblyman can introduce a proposed law (bill) but most are introduced by the KLP-UDR. The Assembly also represents the general population of Dardania, with most seats being allocated based upon population, importance to the Republic, and levels of Qemalist loyalty. The Assembly of the Brave is made up of 240 seats, to reflect the amount of soldiers in the Dardanian military.

A unique caveat to the Assembly is that the Assemblymen are elected from the various local military companies/brigades in that electoral area. This system has ensured that the Qemalist principle of ensuring that democracy is guided by the military, a guidance that is much needed to establish peace, law, and order in Dardania. Elections for the Assembly are held every two years, but any representative is subject to votes of no confidence (which usually ends in a banishment or execution for said Assemblyman). The electoral process for the Assembly of the Brave is as follows:

Local Squadron elects a Squad Representative -> Squad Representative meets with other Representatives from the Company -> The Company elects a Company Representative from the local Squad Representatives -> The Company Representative sits in the Assembly of the Brave

As the military represents the working class/non-Masonic citizens within Dardania, it is forbidden for a Assemblyman to be apart of any Masonic Orient.

The Masonic Senate however is the upper legislative body within Dardania. The Masonic Senate works as an advisory body for the Assembly of the Brave, approving or rejecting laws, editing them to be in line with Qemalism, and instituting international declarations. The Senate is appointed by the Grand Master of Dardania and the Senators stay in power for a period of ten years. As the name suggests, only Freemasons from the recognised Orients of Dardania (Grand Orient of Dardania, Grand Orient of Yugoslavia, Orient of Suva Reka, Orient of Prizren, Orient of Pristina, Grand Lodge of Memphis-Misraim) can actively participate in the Senate.

The final legislative body of Dardania is the Ancient Sanhedrin, a special religious based legislature that only applies to the Jewish Nouveau-Zionist movement centered in Tirana. As Dardania throughout history has been a very welcoming nation to the Jewish people, Grand Master Qemali reformed the Sanhedrin in an effort to substitute the idea of Israel with the idea of Dardania. Nowadays years since Qemali has passed, the Sanhedrin legislates all Jewish matters as well as providing budgetary assistance for those making Aliyah (to Dardania) and regulating the Jewish militia, the Irgun.
