EPOQUE DESAIX - Economics
Trade Complications Leave Vichy Hesitant to Continue New Years’ Developments
December 31st, 2022

During the Fall harvest festival, millions of tonnes worth of staple crops were brought from rural communities to the ports of Saint-Salvy, Pujols, and Waterloo to ship off in massive ocean liners to the several partners of Vichy’s bustling foodstuffs industry. However, as many of these tankers leave port to find their home on the plates of venerable Christians, the return was not as bountiful for the Vichy industrial sector.

While industrial output remains stable, local bookkeepers report that Vichy is running a nominal shortage of nearly all industrial goods, most prominently in raw metals and coal, which are the predominant imports of most industrial firms. However, many knights who are invested in the domestic industrial field are steadfast in their belief that the expansion of Saint-Victor and Moulins’ sheet metal plants will signal a new era in the material output of Vichy’s domestic industrial goods market, which currently suffers at the hand of the global market. If you are a bondholder in one or more of these developments, we suggest you stay vigilant, as many knights affirm that it is too early to report on the true impact of the lack of imported goods to Vichy.

On the other side of production; staple crops have been reported to begin being stored in the Clermont-Ferrand warehouses since the cancellation of the Celtic Grain Bond, which exported the majority of Vichy’s food excess, providing a handsome wealth in return. With the Grain Bond null, many agriculture knights have begun to find junior partners to trade with, which has proven to be a difficult task since the expansion of the Russian and Romanian food markets that provide low-quality foodstuffs for dirt prices, undercutting the superior methods of French farmers. “Acquiring new junior partners will be difficult”, says Sir Emile Bascon, senior agriculture knight, “But we are sure that the process of exporting our full stockpile will provide exponential benefits to the Ordre and her people.”
