SUMMARY
With the collapse of Ottoman rule in eastern Anatolia in the 1920s, the Field Marshall of the remnant Turkish forces in the region, Mustafa Kemal, declared a republic to rule the region under the authority of the same remnant army - the only true professional military left in Eastern Anatolia. Kemal was called Ataturk and ruled as President of the Republic of Turkey for a decade until his death. With his passing, the republic collapsed, the military that had kept it alive shattering into local units that became clans, constantly battling with one another and with the many local Kurdish and Armnenian militas. The Army-Clans of eastern Anatolia stratified and, by 1950, they had settled into a kind of cold war with one another.
That was until Ismet Bayar, Colonel (heir) to Clan Bayar of Samsun, declared himself Ataturk. Ismet had become enamored with the imagery and ideals of the Republic, though by his time those ideals had devolved into mere image and half-remembered meaning. Succeeding his father in 1948, Ismet overhauled the Clan and prepared for his war of unification.
Six Arrows.
Ismet called himself The Ataturk and claimed to be the rightful successor to the republic that had ruled the region when the Empire of old had collapsed, and his sword and rifle would prove that claim. A decade of war followed and with Ataturk I's death, his legacy had been secured. It would be his son, Ataturk II, who built the modern Turkey. Ataturk II, seeing the diversity of his subjects, knew that the direct rule of his father was not sustainable, and so restructured his nation upon two pillars: Komnenism and Kemalism. Six Arrows and an eagle bearing two heads. The Grand Assembly was thus organized, formed of representatives of clans and direct regional governments, advising and formulating law to be presented by their Vizier and approved by the Basileos-Ataturk.
The state that Ataturk II constructed has proven remarkably durable. A King, called The Ataturk, rules by direct authority and is confirmed and advised by the Grand Assembly.
In the waning decade of the 20th Century, the Empire, finding itself under increasing pressure from outside forces, offered to accede to the Roman Empire to the west, under the agreement that Turkey-Trabzon (as it is officially called) would be permitted autonomy to maintain its existing national and governmental infrastructure.
