As I was sat outside my favorite Kava bar, a man was walking past carrying the things he needed to wash windows. I asked him if he was going to wash any here. He said he needed windex. I suggested the convenience store one block down the road.
"I don't have any money," he replied.
"So what are your plans?" I asked.
"Well, I've quit two drugs, am getting rehab for the last one."
"So basically you're turning your life around. I met a guy doing the same thing downtown. He was walking around a parking lot asking if anyone wanted their car windows cleaned." I continued, "He told me he had enrolled in a training course for high level cleaning, the kind they use on tall skyscrapers. Now I haven't seen him in.a while, and I assume he got a job."
"Wow," the want-to-be window cleaner said.
"Well the thing is it is better to offer to do work for money rather than soliciting (begging in UK English). So here you go, here's $20, get yourself fully equipped and good luck to you,"
He left with a huge smile...
