I see a lot of comments here lambasting Hales for his previous directive on houseless folks, for his current directive on houseless folks, and for how the situation was before Hales was in office (and, probably, once he's gone, there will be complaints about that policy, too).

Given limited public funds locally, what would you do about houseless folks in Portland?

I ask because this issue seems like it's being CAUSED at a different level than it AFFECTS people: houselessness is a huge combination of issues that needs Federal funding, but the impacts of houselessness hits municipalities.

Given that, what would you have Portland do about it?
