I own a 2011 Boxster as my daily driver. I got it in 2015 and have only hand-washed since I got it, and have done all the detailing myself as well. Thing is, I fucking hate handwashing it. It's a pain in the ass. Dirty, hard work, absolutely miserable on hot or cold days.
The car is beautiful afterward, especially if I apply paint sealant, but I just hate the handwashing process. I learned a lot about how to take care of it from /r/autodetailing, but the consensus there is that I should never, EVER take it to an automatic car wash, as it will absolutely destroy the paint. Touchless car washes can be used sparingly, but only in a pinch.
I know the folks here care about their car looks - what do you do to keep your car looking good?
