$40 for Popeyes??? WTF is going on?!
Post Body

My busband and I went to Popeyes for the first time in over a year or two and let’s just say we won’t be back. I cannot believe how expensive it is! I got a 3 piece tender combo and my husband got some wings and an order of fries and our order was over $40. $40?! I could go out to a decent dinner for $40!

And then the whole ordering experience was SO frustrating! The only way to order was through a kiosk, which is fine in theory, but the process was so inefficient and there were no employees in the front to help! And I’m in my 20s and grew hot with technology, i can’t image if I were an older adult who was less skilled with technology: The interface was a little confusing to navigate at first, and the default setting is always to upgrade. For example, when you select an item such as wings, it automatically gives you a combo and you have to press a button to opt out. Or if you select a combo, it automatically upgrades you to a medium drink, and you have to intentionally select small instead of medium.

After finally figuring out how to navigate the kiosk and getting out items in the cart, I tried not to throw up as I selected check out on our over $40 Popeyes order, only for the application to crash and say “sorry, an error has occurred, please start again”🙄 So we did. Entered everything in again, pressed check out, same error message. I almost walked out at this point. No employees were in the front to offer help, so I yelled to the back to get someone’s attention. Finally, someone came to take our order and he said “oh yeah, it’s because you ordered a flavor of wings that were out of” OMG!! If you’re out of something, why does the ordering kiosk not give you that message, rather than just telling you to restart?! So confusing!!

The frustration of ordering finally behind us, we sat down and waited for our food. For over 15 minutes. For fast food. The whole ordering debacle took up about 15 plus the time we waited for our food, were at almost 30 minutes to get some fast food…

But the shitty experience doesn’t end there. We get home and open up our $40 fast token order to find soggy ass fries, TINy chicken tenders, and some of the worst wing flavors I ever tried. Specifically the lemon pepper honey or something like that. Absolute garbage. Literally tasted like lemon cleaning product. My husband wouldnt even eat them, and that man will eat anything.

DO BETTER POPEYES. I understand the hourly wage for fast food workers went up, but this is absolutely ridiculous. Last time I go to a Popeyes:

ETA: Jesus Christ I never thought I’d get so much hate for a post about Popeyes. I wish I felt as passionately about anything as some of you do about defending Popeyes. No, I’m not lying about the price. It was $40 for my husband and i’s order. For reference, I live in SoCal so it’s possible me prices are different than where you are.

To clarify, I know how to use a kiosk, I grew up with technology. The interface was very inefficient and crashed every time I tried to complete my order, apparently because they were out of something, but the kiosk doesn’t tell you that. That’s an inefficient system and is frustrating.

I recognize it’s not the employees fault and did not treat them as such. I was nothing but kind to the employee and when I said “yelled to the back” I just meant spoke loudly to get his attention and ask for help. I thought Reddit was a safe place to vent and just wanted to voice my experience and see if anyone else feels similarly. If you don’t, no worries; no need to get nasty about it.
