Post Body

There's an interesting (if somewhat ponderous) 1979 novel, "The Vicar of Christ", about a USMC Sergeant, medal of honor winner, later Supreme Court Justice, and Monk, who is elected Pope after a long and divisive conclave. It's written through a series of interviews with people that knew Pope Francis. I delight in all papal fiction, but this is probably the best known, and interesting in that -- as reformer -- he took the name Francis as well as the current actual pope.
