I've been on some Ponza variant since about SOI release. I was skeptical about [[Karn, TGC]] at first, but now he is a 4x in the main and 8 slots in the SB dedicated to his tutoring-wish. [[Liquimetal Coating]] and [[Mycosynth Lattice]] locking an opponent feels SO PONZA and feels SO GOOD.
The event that inspired my post: Me vs Dredge.
I won game 1 with a T3 Karn into [[Tormod crypt]], into T4 [[grafdigger's cage]].
Op is gonna sideboard hard, so I bring in 2x [[Scooze]] and 2x [[Anger of the Gods]] take out 3 [[stormbreath dragon]] and a [[pillage]].
I my dredge opponent does his thing, I T1 forest into [[Arbor elf]]. I have a Scooze in hand, so I need lots of green mana, I play sub-optimal with my [[Utopia Sprawl]] on green before untapping Stomping Ground and casting [[Blood Moon]]. My opponent dredges into payoff cards, but no [[bloodghasts]] or [[narcomoeba]] to trigger them.
HERE'S WHERE IT GETS GOOD
T3 I have 5 mana up (elf, sprawl, 2 lands), cast Karn, TGC, then tutor for and cast Grafdigger's cage. Pass turn.
T4 My opponent casts [[shenanigans]] on my cage, misses his land drop, and passes.
T4 I make my 3rd land drop ( sprawl and elf make 6 mana available). Cast Scooze, eat Shenanigans from Op's graveyard then EAT MY OWN GRAFDIGGER'S CAGE, RE-TUTOR FOR IT AND CAST! leaving 1 green mana up for Scooze.
Op concedes game 2.
