Hey guys! I got a review for you all today. First off, I would like to say that I am no way affiliated with Nostalgic Handmade, I am not paid for these reviews and I bought this product with my own money. Nostalgic Handmade is relatively new to the pomade brewing scene but in the short amount of time they have had, they have made a huge impression with their product.
I have had experience with their firm hold OB, it has been my go-to for a few months now and by far my favorite as far as hold, shine, and scent go.
Slicker Things is new, its their first Petrol based product here.
Consistency: Out of the jar you have the Nostalgic Handmade traditional, white, and opaque color. I thought that this product was going to be as hard as their firm hold. Again, I was mistaken, I accidently used the same pressure as I would if it had been in their OB, this is more of a jelly, its very soft, thick, and creamy. So be careful haha.
Scent Profile: The scent is listed as being: Bergamot, Black Pepper, and a hint of Lavender. I can smell the Bergamot, Black Pepper, and the lavender is definitely there but it is not as prominent. Very nice scent. 10/10
Scent Strength: its a medium scent strength. Probably a 6/10. Its not overly strong but its definitely noticeable.
Performance: For the record, I have very thick and curly hair. I tend to shy away from medium hold pomades as they do not hold my hair the way I want it. I do a slick back, and I want my hair to stay back, nice and straight with no waves. So I use strong holds, I only bought one can of Slicker Things thinking that it wasn't going to hold. I was pleasantly mistaken this stuff holds great. It had a really nice shine, its not "grippy". In fact my comb had no issue going through my hair, if you guys have used their other products then I am sure you already know what I mean. It feels like there's nothing even there. All may hairs stay in place, and was held nice and straight.
It's 81°F here in So Cal, 3 hours into my work shift (outdoors) and I have had no issues with this product staying in my hair. Hopefully it stays that way for the rest of the day.
TL;DR. I have curly hair, great hold, holds my hair straight, no strays. Not grippy, great shine, great scent, amazing product. 10/10.
