Today I recieved in the mail:
X1 Lockharts Goon Grease: GG2DC X1 Lockharts Fire & Brimstone Heavy Hold X1 Nostalgic Handmade Firm Hold Coco Pomps X1 Nostalgic Hand add Firm Hold Barbershop LE.
Prior to this I was using Daimon Barber No.2 and O' douds heavy hold.
Before we begin I would like to state that I am Hispanic, with very course, thick, and curly hair.
I've been using Nostalgic Handmade for several days. It is my favorite so far. Coco Pomps is a very gourmand scent but it is light, it isn't offensive and barely noticeable through out the day. I have no problem keeping my hair slicked back straight all day. No waves, no curls. This pomade feels light and not heavy (hair doesn't feel weighed down). Washing out is really easy for being an oil based pomade.
My favorite scent of the 2: Barbershop. I get a lot of complements on it. I got asked what cologne I was wearing (I don't wear cologne). Its a very fresh, sweet, and powdery barbershop scent. Too bad its a limited release. Grab some while you can.
GG2DC & Fire & Brimstone Has the performance you would expect. Awesome. Goes in smooth, feels great, and light weight. GG2DC also has a very nice "barbershop" type scent but it has a citrus undertone to it. Very pleasant. Fire & Brimstone is different. Its dark, smokey, and very earthy its definitely a masculine scent that I will have the absolute pleasure of wearing.
My go to prior to this was of course Daimon barber No.2. This pomade scoops out like a light hold. I was a little nervous of this one. It was expensive at $20 a jar. But man was I surprised. At first it didn't hold so well, I reset my hair (degreased) prior to putting this product in my hair. At first it did not hold so well. But on the second day. With a little buildup from the day before, it held wonderfully. I got the same result as I currently do with Nostalgic Handmade. Daimon Barber more of a greasy feel than the Nostalgic Handmade.
My least favorite of the group and final review is O'Douds. I know people in this group speak highly of O' Douds Water based. This is their heavy hold. First off, performance is good. Leaves my hair nice and straight. My complaint with this product is the scent, it's not pleasant to me, its very herbal. Also, this product is very HEAVY it weighs my hair down a lot, and its very hard to wash out, I could probably compare this to Murray's superior hold.
Let me know your thoughts and opinions guys! Please take my reviews with a grain of salt. This is just one mans opinion. These reviews are based off my individual experience with these products.
