Polkadot XCMP vs Sol vs Luna questions

Hi everyone I'm curious if anyone can help explain the significance of xcmp on the Polkadot chain....
I have a basic understanding of how the parachains, parathreads etc will work e and in comparison to how this is different to other setups on chains such as Solana etc.
Can any help my understand the fundamentals around xcmp and how this is different compared to setups on rival networks.
