You should be able to forsake financial responsibility.
Post Body

With the Roe v Wade ruling over turned, I have been thinking a lot about the right to forsake financial responsibility to an already born child.

If you ask me, I believe that only people who want to see their children should ever be forced to pay child support. If, after your off spring is born, you decide you want nothing to do with the child, you should be allowed to sign away all responsibilities to the child, which would also mean signing away all legal rights to the child. You will never be allowed to see your child.

This should go for both men and women. In my opinion, both men and women should be allowed to opt out of parenthood after the child is born. For a woman that means giving the child up for adoption, for a man that would mean signing away all rights to the child after finding out about the pregnancy, or if the pregnancy was kept a secret from him, after finding out about the child.

Imagine a woman gives birth, gives the child up for adoption and the father gets custody. The mother should not be forced to pay child support, in my opinion. Now suppose you have an opposite scenario where the mother decides to keep the child and father wants nothing to do with the child. In my opinion, because the mother made the free will choice to become a parent, despite having adoption available to her, the father should not be financially responsible for the child that he didn't choose to bring into the world. Anyone who opts out of parenthood surrenders their right to see the child ever again.

For as long as abortion is illegal the mother should be allowed to demand that the father pay for half the cost of prenatal healthcare. If, however, abortion is legal and the pregnant woman can have one against the wishes of the father, then the father is as out of the equation when it comes to responsibility as he is when it comes to who has rights.
