According to the special counsel's report on Biden's handling of classified documents, Biden is said to have poor memory and recall where he couldn't date his son's Beau's death (2015) within several years, didn't know he was VP and didn't recall his decision to order the evacuation of US troops out of Afghanistan in 2021. Combined with his mental lapses on who are the world's leaders and other foibles, what is your impression on how Biden's age and mental faculty to be president will impact his reelection changes?
In comparison, Trump is seen as more mentally sound and knowledgeable where voters don't have as much of a concern of him being mentally fit to be president. That is not to say Trump doesn't make gaffes, it's just that the perception is that Biden makes more of them and will continue to have trouble recalling things as he ages if he gets re-elected.
For partisans, the age concern will be dismissed by Democrats or embraced by Republicans, but independents may see this slide in Biden as another reason not to vote for him and may turn to Trump instead. That could be the reason why Trump is mostly ahead of him in polls, unlike 2020 when Biden was routinely ahead of Trump.
How do you see Biden's age and mental issue affecting the presidential campaign? How would you rebut those concerns if you were defending him? How should the GOP respond: with mockery or sadness?
I think it's pretty clear that Biden is having some cognitive decline, be it from old age or something else.
I don't think it'll meaningfully impact the election unless something really dramatic happens. Most people who support him are determined to not acknowledge any kind of issue and the people that do acknowledge it tend to think that it's more important to beat Trump so they're not going to change their vote.

An independent that was willing to vote for Biden is probably not going to be willing to change their vote to Trump, at least not over something like Biden's cognitive problems. Trump isn't exactly a shining pillar of mental health.
Biden is down in the polls because Biden is governing like a 2000's Republican and we're actively supporting a genocide in Palestine. Biden's low poll numbers are a mystery only to people who live in their own constructed political reality.

I was thinking more the provoking a war in the Middle East, unblinking support for Israel no matter what they do, insisting the economy is great when tons of people are struggling to afford basics, aggressive actions on the border to address a non-existent problem, doing almost nothing while states pass a slew of laws targeting LGBTQ people, and broad indifference to a public health emergency (COVID.)
Sounds pretty 2000's Republican-y to me.
