Bad harness or something else?
Post Body

My 2008 800s is running, but it boogs when the peddle is stomped. I notice this harnesss has loose wires, but they have been like that for as long as I can remember. I noticed with a little pressure on the harness, it sounds like one cylinder drops out. Anyone else have this model? Does your harness have loose wires? Whatโ€™s this part called? Is the best fix just a replacement or should I solder?

Thanks in advance!

It should definitely have something, although those connectors are often self sealing. However, this still does not look like OEM.

Look here for diagrams, and you should be able to track it down. https://www.babbittsonline.com/oemparts/c/polaris_atv_2008/parts

That harness does not look original. I don't have this, but it doesn't look like something that would come from the factory. The factory one would have a boot around it like the one on the left, and definitely would not have extra wires just cut off there. It's likely that the connections between the wires and the pins or the pins to the sockets is loose, and you are making and breaking connections as you move it around.

If you can open the connector, you can inspect them. They are normally crimped with a special tool, and if this is an aftermarket/homemade harness, they may not have had the correct tool.
