The lack of skill based matchmaking in normal games is a serious problem that lowers the game's long term replayability.
Post Body

Pretty much the title. It does not seem as though Pokemon Unite attempts to "match players of comparable skill" as the game claims (press in a lobby and read under "random match").

For reference: I have about 300 games played. My win rate is approximately 73% (80% on Cinderace...). Most of these games are normal matches. I also recently hit master in ranked. I've spent 20$ on the battle pass and some item enhancers but none of my items are over level 20. I have previous MOBA experience but I'm far from a pro gamer, peaked plat 3 in league.

Just now, after 300 games played with a 73% win rate and hitting master in ranked, I queued up for a normal game solo in order to test out exp share on eldagoss since I recently got the item to level 20. I was just forced to go bot lane as a SOLO eldagoss running EXP share. The one time my jungler decided to gank the lane he stopped hitting the monsters when they were at 1hp, thinking that he was doing me some sort of favor... No one joined me in bot lane despite my constant "assist me" pings until top lane had somehow already lost their point 5 minutes into the match.

This is not an anomaly. When I go into normal games with my friends who are also experienced moba players, but typically peaked gold or plat in league so nothing crazy, we normally go 20 wins in a row and the game does not try to match us with a fair challenge. We end up spawn camping every single game by around the halfway mark after slaughtering the enemy team.

In conclusion - I recognize this is all anecdotal evidence, but it appears that there is zero or near zero skill based matchmaking in normal games. Going 20 wins in a row is fun for a while, but eventually people are going to want a challenge. This is not healthy for the longevity of the game. I do think there is something to be said regarding keeping que times low and allowing for loose skill based matchmaking, but none or close to none is just ridiculous.

I also recognize that the pool of skilled players is likely low since this is a Pokemon game on the switch so it will probably never be perfect. But seriously, they can't bother to at least match me with people who know to not let Eldagoss go solo in the bot lane?
