Terra Nullius rebooted, and why the original attempt was a failure.
Post Body

Greetings, Big_Yazza, lead dev here. I wanted to give some history of this game's development, shed some light on why the original attempt to develop the game ultimately failed, and outline future plans for the rebooted development of the game.

I started this project when I was 14 years old. I had discovered Pokemon Fan-games like Zeta/Omicron, Insurgence, Sage and the like just 6 months before I began working on Terra Nullius. I came up with a vague storyline, and taught myself to map and code. Over the months I pumped out maps and events, posted in this subreddit about all this wonderful progress I was making, and even recruited a few of my friends to help develop the game.

From the above paragraph you can probably already see that the game was doomed from the start, but back then I was really really positive that I was gonna make the game and that people were gonna love it. I brushed problems like my lack of fleshed-out storyline, poor coding ability and general ineptness under the carpet, until finally development came to a crashing halt half-way though 2016.

Now, it's late 2017, and over 2 years since initial development started, and I'm ready to start again. The bulk of the storyline is fleshed out with some minor details to iron out, and my mapping abilities have improved substantially from what they once were.

Current plan is this: 18 gyms, one of each type, similar to Reborn/Resurgence. Evil Team are Team Polaris, and their key players (Icarus, Aurora, Yolanda, Wes) have remained the same from the original TN, though their motives have changed substantially. Player Choice is significant, with the player able to change the storyline through half-a-dozen important decisions. There are 'Good' Endings and 'Bad' endings, which are intended to change what Pokemon are available in the region.

All Pokemon are intended to be capturable, with all non-legendaries available in repeatable/wild encounters, provided the player chooses to avoid further damage to the ecosystem and actually does the sidequests I spend time making, dammit.

Starters have remained unchanged (Scraggy, Woobat and Dwebble), though these 'mon won't technically be the first the player uses (you'll see).

I'm not gonna force myself to update the subreddit every month like I was doing last time, I think that led to an unhealthy work ethic, but I will try to keep anyone interested in the game informed on progress. I want to get a short beta version out in the near future, but no date, not even a month can be given at this point.
