Where to start for collecting?

Hey guys, been out of collecting Pokemon cards since '99. Seems like I have missed quite a bit. Bought a Unbroken Bonds and Breakthrough etbs on the cheap, and found a Hidden Fates tin a week early. Also got a Unified Minds etb.
Will probably cool it for a little while but was wondering what pack(s) I should target? I guess I want to collect and maaaaaybe play competitively (local shops) down the road.
