Firstly, I don’t know if I’ll continue to post on this, or even if I’m allowed to on this subreddit. I read the rules, and nothing was against or for what I’m about to post, so I figured I’d just post and if it was bad it’d be removed.

Anyways. I, (M19) and my wife (F19) are vastly different in a lot of ways, including hobbies. I’ve been an avid gamer and techie for basically all my life, while she’s not really played any games other than occasional Minecraft on her brothers PS4 and this game where you take care of souls and guide them on their way, though I can’t remember what it’s called and she didn’t even play that much. (8 years on one save file and only halfway through the game)

I’m an interest to share my hobby with her and simultaneously get her a good Christmas present for our first Christmas together, I upgraded a coworkers laptop he gave me, fixed its issues, replaced the broken parts, etc. And I gave her stardew valley, which I thought she’d like, and I was right. I saw that interest finally sparked. She plays terribly, amd chugs along at her own pace, but it doesn’t matter. She enjoys it and I could see that sparkle in her eyes. At some point after seeing me mod Skyrim and fallout 4 for the upteenth time, she asked me if stardew valley could be modded also, so off I went and togetger built her a complete modlist that she absolutely adores; but the whole time we’ve been together I’ve been trying to get her to play Pokémon, or watch the show, anything. Of course I don’t push her, but I am autistic and just being around me I’m sure I’ve gone on spiels about Pokémon more than once. Well tonight I decided to play one of my favorite ROMhacks ever, Pokémon Blaze Black 2. (Original, not the redux) And the best thing happened, she asked if she could try it out. I jumped on the chance, and set everything up for her and now we’re doing a couples run of the game. I’ve played competitively, especially gen 5, so I’m purposely doing a very casual run of the game, simply picking Pokémon I think look cool, nicknaming all my Pokémon, not grinding for good stat moms but instead taking what I get nuzlocke style. Tonight we played for about an hour and a half, and in that time my wife only got to the second patch of grass on route 19. She was having the time of her life encountering all the mons, and she fell in love with Tepig at first sight, I’m pretty sure she nicknamed him MamaChata or something like that, I’m in floccey ranch but I’m going to take my time now that I realize how much I’m already ahead of her, and I already thought I was going slow.

I’m so excited, especially as about an hour in she said that she thinks she might like this more than stardew valley, and had those same sparkling eyes she used to have for stardew she hasn’t had in a while. She’s asleep but I can’t wait to continue this with her. A little bit I’m scared my enthusiasm will scare her off, but it hasn’t yet and we’re married so at this point my enthusiasm is kinda normal to her, or so she’s told me. I love how when she’s focused on her “pokemans battles” she concentrates so hard and forgets to tuck her hair behind her ear like she usually does. I love her so much and now I can share one of my favorite parts of my childhood with her. If I’m allowed to by admins, I intend to document her journey here, or if I’m asked to put this in a different subreddit I humbly ask that I get warning first so I may copy this post over to wherever the correct subreddit is. Having so much fun with this!
