I am playing Pokemon Go, but I am only catching Pokemon, evolving them and battling with Team Rockets. After discovering this sub, I added a few friends (though I wish I had some in London/UK to do some local raids and party challenges) and now am exchanging gifts :)

My knowledge is poor, and I don't have a strategy or know what a few things mean in the game. For example:

I recently discovered the ‘appraise’ option. When I appraised some of my highest CP Pokemon, it turned out to be one-star. What does that mean? What do the attack, defence and HP mean for a Pokemon? How to improve it?

When I battle, attacks from some Pokemon say ‘super effective’. Where do I understand which type of Pokemon to use against which for maximum impact?

Apart from these, any other hacks from seasoned players here that can help me improve my game apart from just catching Pokemon are greatly appreciated!
