This is the first game I've played since Blue in middle school, and it's pretty great. But while the trade features are generally pretty useful (both Wonder Trade, at least for starting out, and GTS), a couple of them are getting on my nerves.
In particular, I need to trade/evolve my Feebas, Magmar and Electabuzz to fill out my dex, and there are pages on pages of people with them up asking for Milotic, Magmortar and Electivire (and legendaries, UBs, etc). But I can't GIVE them those, even though trading mine WOULD give them those, because they didn't list the right thing.
I do get why – no one wants to get the same monster back without the proper held items, that would be a waste. But still, legit even trades can't go through, because I can't give you a pokemon I won't have until after the trade. And the asker probably won't get what they want anyway, because why would someone who already has it trade it for the previous evo (particularly the ones, especially with Feebas, that aren't even holding what they need to)? This isn't exclusive to held-item evos (plenty of Kadabras asking for Alakazams, for no reason), but it's only a PROBLEM with held-item evos.
I haven't been around for all the other incremental trading improvements over the previous generations, so I'm sure things are much better than even a couple generations ago (hopefully?), but I feel like this is something on GF's part that should've already been fixed along the line – either allow the game to recognize that the proper monster they want would come through after the trade, so I can select Feebas/Magmar/Electabuzz with their items, OR allow requesting specific held items as part of the ask, so people can ask for the proper monsters rather than the evos many players can't give.
Rawr rawr rawr, and all that.
