This is about an ideology
The one which has controlled love and it’s philosophy
Tells you there is a soul mate and you just go to wait
And you don’t need to do a thing — it’s just fate
The idea is you’ll find her by instinct
At a time you least expect
a promise of the one and only
Of sunshine, rainbows, and how you’ll never again be lonely
It couples love tightly with lust
your only one to sleep with until you are dust
how you’ll both talk without words
Hand in hand, sunsets, and birds
Another one of those dangerous ism
Supercharged by bloodthirsty capitalism
This is 18th-century romanticism.
Bringing our love lives to the brink
Is it then any wonder?
Modern love starts with candle lit dinner
Dies with men refusing to do the dishes at the sink
