Are you a gay, bisexual, or queer identified man? Do you parTy?
If you said ‘yes’, then you may be eligible to participate in our study. Our study is examining social, psychological, emotional, and behavioural factors that might be uniquely associated with methamphetamine (“meth”) use that interferes with men’s functioning (e.g., interferes with relationships, work, school, or other areas of life). Our goal is to better understand why some men struggle with their use of meth while others do not. Moreover, identifying these factors may allow us to better support the men most in need.
You may be eligible to participate in this study if you: (1) identify as a gay, bisexual, or queer-identified man who has sex with men, (2) have had sex with man in the past 6 months, (3) are 18 years of age or older, (4) live in Canada or the United States, and (5) are fluent in English.
Participation involves completing an online survey. The survey will take 20 to 25-minutes to complete. As an incentive for your participation, you will be able to choose from one of two incentives: (1) entry in a draw for a 1 in 10 chance to win a $25 or $50 Amazon gift card or (2) have $5 donated on your behalf by the researchers to an international 2SLGBTQIA charity.
More information about the study can be found through this link: https://ryersonpsych.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ewGEUlgBSq0g78a. The link will first direct you to a brief eligibility screening questionnaire. If eligible, you will be directed to the consent form, which includes important details about the study (e.g., research ethics approval, risks and benefits, data security, contact information of researchers). Additional information about the study and related resources can be found at www.beamstudy.com.
This study has been reviewed and approved by the Toronto Metropolitan University Research Ethics Board (REB 2023-365).
