Help with banging pipes.....
Post Body

Hi All,

I have a 35ish year old furnace that feeds baseboard radiant heat. One zone is misbehaving and we are disagreeing on the issue/solution. I am just looking for someone to point me in a direction.

Periodically, our water pipes "sing" (bang) when we flush the toilet and run the shower. This year, the singing is more like a brass band marching through the bathroom, and I'd like that to stop.

Previously, I believe that there was a correlation between the banging and the radiant heat not working well. It was generating heat, but two of the bedrooms were barely getting a trickle of warmth. In my memory, the person that fixed it did so by bleeding the lines- took care of the heat and the singing pipes.

Husband tells me that this is ludicrous, as the pipes are not connected in any way. His logic is sound, but I would swear that the last two times we bled the lines, the issues of the banging and heat were resolved.

I am not here to win the argument. I just need someone to suggest what we should do to check the reason there is no heat coming to my dang bedroom.

Thanks in advance!
