How to I get the broken plastic screw out?

I had to fit another filter to the kitchen tap and the plastic screw thing broke. I can still fit the new filter with a few threads it has but water sprays alot while we use the filter.
I tried a sharp thing to break it but its too hard and sometimes slips enough to hurt my finger.
Please guide!
