Air and sediment in well water system
Post Body

A few months back I noticed we would get some air in the pipes on occasion and the house water filter was getting dirty a little quicker. Submersible pump in a well of unknown depth but probably 160ft. 2 wire 240v pump of unknown HP. Flo-check valve right before pressure switch.

Fast forward to this week. Water filter clogged with silt. Silt layered in the bottom of the filter housing like clay. Lots of air in the system. Every time the pump kicks on there’s a gurgle of air that comes up the water inlet from the pump outside. I isolated and drained the pressure tank and it’s perfect at 38psi. Switch is a 40/60. Turns on at 38psi off at 62psi. Gauge was stuck and replaced it.

I’m worried because I think I know what it is and it’s expensive. What do you think? Thanks for your help!
