Help! Water shut off valve not working
Post Body

So had a leaky shut off valve on this beautiful Sunday evening. It has a connection for the sink hot water and a 1/2โ€ for the dishwasher. It is a 1/2โ€ inlet pipe. I put the new valve on and it just turned. The compression ring didnโ€™t fit snug so then decided to put old compressing ring back on with new valve and it slowly leaked. Went back and put new ring on and valve. Seems to tighten better than first time but still the valve turned and then it of course blew off when water turned on. I now inspected the pipe and it feels like it has been compressed or smaller in diameter in the area where old valve was installed. Is this something you all have run into, and if so do I need to cut back the pipe and install onto the remaining pipe? Have water shut off for the night because I canโ€™t get any of the new fittings to hold. Pic is of old valve can add more if needed. Thank you
