Leak

So I keep getting this leak where the waste arm connects to the drain stub out. The drain stub out is galvanized and the waste arm and the rest is pvc. Is there something else is should be doing? Teflon tape? Different material? It is very hard to screw on so I think it is getting cross threaded, but it's hard for me to get under the vanity because I am very tall and large. Thanks in advance to everyone on this sub and to all trades people. The black circle is the leaky spot
