With the announcement of Plex DVR and Plex Cloud it seems like Plex needs a more continuous revenue stream.
For "Plex DVR" Plex has to continuously pay Gracenote for providing the EPG ( metadata).
For "Plex Cloud" Plex (probably) has to continuously pay Amazon for every transcode with a video shorter than 20 minutes and has to buy their own hardware/pay another provider to transcode videos greater than 20 minutes (Source: http://www.aftvnews.com/plex-cloud-lets-you-run-a-virtual-plex-server-using-amazons-unlimited-cloud-drive/).

Maybe instead of discontinuing Plex Lifetime they will split the current Plex Pass to Plex Pass Standard and Plex Pass Premium (which includes DVR Cloud) where the latter (Premium) doesn't have a Lifetime option (however existing Plex Lifetime owners get a free update to "Premium")?
