Original Post

I posted a while back about this and thought my problem was solved but it has returned.

I ONLY view on my local network.

I currently have Plex Media Server Running on both Synology (no docker) and Nvidia Shield because I was trying to see if either device performs better. Neither does.

Setup:

  • Router: Address 192.168.25.1 Owned by ISP. No Admin Access. Can't use own router with my only available ISP.
  • Nvidia Shield Android TV Pro
    • Ethernet connected directly to router (192.168.25.3)
    • Plex Client - Lots of buffering regardless of the server I choose. Often get a message that my network connection is not fast enough (sorry i dont have exact wording)
    • Plex Media Server
    • VLC -- Here I can see my library over DLNA and everything plays perfectly even the 2160 files that I rarely have.
  • Synology DS418

As you can see from my previous post, I am using the following settings for Plex Media Server:

  • Remote Access -- Disabled
  • Network:
    • enable server suppport for IPv6 disabled
    • secure connections: Perferred
    • custom certificate: NULL
    • custom certificate encryption key: NULL
    • custom certificate domain: NULL
    • Preferred Netword interface ANY
    • Strict TLS configuration - disabled
    • Enable local network discovery (GDM) - enabled
    • Remote streams allowed per user - 2
    • LAN Networks - NULL
    • Terminate sessions paused for longer than 15 minutes
    • Treat WAN IP as LAN Bandwidth - disabled
    • Enable Relay - Disabled
    • Customer server access URLs - NULL
    • List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth
    • Webhooks - Disabled.
  • Transcoder (I wonder if this has something to do with my problem) I don't care about transcoding if I don't absolutely need it. I am mostly watching videos in 1080p H.264 but I also have problems with smaller files like 720p files.
    • Transcoder quality - Automatic
    • Transcoder temporary directory - NULL
    • Transcoder default throttle buffer - 120
    • Background transcoding x264 preset - Ultra Fast
    • Enable HDR tone mapping - NULL
    • Disable video stream transcoding - Enabled
    • Maximum simultaneous video transcode - 1

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. There were a couple of different suggestion in the previous post but I still have problems with each of the suggestions.

Edited to add IP Address of Nvidia Shield
