We previously announced that we would go private for the site-wide blackout.
I'm sure you've all read why subs were protesting and what has happened since to pour gasoline on that flame, so I won't repeat it all. If not, I would highly suggest you do prior to proceeding; if you're interested in knowing more, I would suggest checking out r/ModCoord (or perhaps just the latest open letter; it serves as a good reminder that our goals with protesting is not to immediately abandon the platform but be one of many to push it into being better).
While we took longer than we would have liked to return, we were met with overwhelming feedback from the community to go private for longer than 48 hours, in particular, indefinitely; now's the time to see how the community wishes to proceed with this issue:
PROTEST: Restricted: We continue protesting, but we go into restricted (read-only) mode.
PROTEST: John Oliver: We continue protesting, but we only allow content relating to John Oliver (or whatever other weird topic is picked).
OPEN: We continue operating with an open subreddit and it will be business as usual. If events happen, we (or the userbase) may request a revote.
To vote, simply click the option above or below and send the PM:
PROTEST: Restricted
PROTEST: Oliver
OPEN
We will first consider whether to continue protesting or not (by combining the 2 protest options), then we will consider how. Because this is currently an all-or-nothing option in any protest scenario, we will require a super-majority of two-thirds in order to continue protesting. If the subreddit chooses to protest, we will check again to ensure the community wishes to continue.
Why via the bot? Because we want to be able to exclude brigading users and Reddit's polls are not accessible on 3rd party apps, this is (crazy, right?).
You will get a confirmation DM. Please be patient, Reddit has very sensitive limits on messages (even replies) so the bot waits a long period between DMs.
To change vote, just send the new one.
To view your current vote, click here and send.
Please note: This poll is open to everyone however priority will be given to our active userbase (people who have contributed prior to blackout) to reduce the risk of brigaiding that we've observed happening.
Manual voting
If your app is bad, you can do so manually by sending a PM to /u/PCJs_Slave_Robot with "shutdown plex" as subject and "open", "protest restricted", "protest oliver" or "view" as the body.
