I've seen a few arguments that the reduced chance to encounter a luma negatively impacts a casual player's experience when playing the game, as it is harder for them to acquire the luma they want. This argument is flawed, because the truth is a casual player doesn't hunt for lumas in the first place.
A 1/6000 and a 1/8000 chance to spawn a luma are functionally identical in terms of whether or not a single random encounter will have a luma or not. These percentages only come into play when looking at the average number of encounters needed to when grinding out fights specifically hunting for luma, which is not something a casual player is going to do. A casual player is likely to play through the story, maybe go out and catch some of the temtem that they missed, and possibly dip their toes in a little bit of breeding. Even if you aren't setting up breeding farms and selling perfect sv luma temtem; if you're just grinding out fights in a specific area striving to get a single luma, then you aren't a casual player.
Now whether or not these changes are good or bad for the dedicated player is up for debate. But you should recognize that it is very unlikely that anyone even reading these threads, myself included, could be considered casual.
