Having computer running for PlayOn recordings

Do I need to have my computer running to have PlayOn record? Or can I just set it and go? I wanted to get The Office episodes before they are removed from Netflix, but I'd hate to keep my computer on for 100 hours to keep it downloading. I trialed the PlayOn mobile version and I was able to still get the downloads if I closed the app. I will either be using a Windows PC (after I get it upgraded to Windows 10) or a virtual machine running Windows on a Mac.
