Can’t seem to get Xbox controller to work

Hello all,
I just got an Alienware X15 R1 gaming laptop last week and decided to get the Xbox game pass. GOTG just got added so I downloaded and wanted to play but for some reason I can’t figure out how to use my Xbox controller with this game. Controller works great with apex legends, halo etc etc. can someone please help with this issue
