I'm dealing with plantar plate/capsulitis and not PF but this is the closest community I can find, and, it's the same ligament just on opposite ends.
I am dealing with pretty intense hatred of my body these days. It's failed me over and over. I'm only dealing with mine for 2 months, but I have a long history of foot and ankle injuries and surgeries (all started with a course of fluoroquinolone antibiotics). Every time I fix one thing, two more pop up. Five surgeries in 2 years, and I recovered well from all of them, but my injury threshold is so low now. I got this from doing a downward dog twice a day for 15 seconds. So maybe 6 surgeries soon.
I've tried literally anything and everything (except steroids, can't take them.) Ibuprofen, orthotics (made me much worse), 4 sessions of shockwave, fish oil, collagen, CBD, compression socks, ice, heat. I've done PRP in the past for prior injuries and won't waste my money on it again. Out of all that? Nothing. Zilch. It's all hocus pocus. The human body simply hasn't evolved to heal collagen and cartilage the way it heals muscle and bone.
Podiatrists and orthopedic doctors make a LOT of money on these conservative care "treatments" knowing that invariably a lot of people will resort to surgery 6-12 months later anyway.
I'm going to try the tenex debridement if it's not better in another month. It's a minimally invasive procedure where they suction out dead tissue thru a 3 mm incision. Only about 2 weeks of down time. I'll report back if anyone is interested.
