Did a search here and didn't see any topics about this.
I play on a pretty old machine so I have to set all the graphics to low to get a decent framerate, and a Google search found me a trick to make my framerate significantly better:
Find the UserOptions.ini file in your PS directory and edit it with Notepad.
Find the RenderDistance variable and change it from its default of -1.000000 (infinite render distance) to something static and reasonable. This is the render distance for objects in meters. Other players apparently render at 1,000 meters, so something between 1000 and 1500 would be a good value for older machines.
I know the game isn't optimized yet, but has anyone else found tricks to increase framerate?
Edit: as requested, here are my system specifications. I use an ASUS G72GX "gaming" laptop which I bought back in 2009.
Details about the NVIDIA GTX 260M (includes game benchmarks)
Edit 2: Thanks for all the help everyone! I set my RenderDistance to 1000 and set all my graphics settings except Shadows to Medium (they were on Low before) and I get a consistent 20~25 12~20 FPS even during larger firefights. I also set FloraQuality to off and Render Quality to 50%.
