So a cool idea I had that could be fun would be a poster for each DLC showing all of the animals that are being introduced. These could work as advertisements, promotional material, or a little gift to be added to your steam account after buying each DLC. I’m not an artist so unfortunately, I couldn’t bring these to life, but if somebody gets inspired by these ideas, feel free to use them.
The arctic pack: my idea for an arctic pack poster would be a parody of a Christmas card since the arctic DLC is pretty much “the Christmas pack”. It would depict the reindeer and dall sheep pulling a sleigh with the polar bear holding the reigns and the arctic wolf sitting beside him. If you want to get really fancy you could put the polar bear in a santa outfit and give the wolf an elf hat, maybe even give the reindeer a red nose. The last detail would be a bag of gifts in the back of the sleigh that could have the PZ logo, maybe teasers for upcoming packs, advertising the arctic pack itself, a combination of these. Just something fun and cute. And if you don’t like to goofy nature of this one the others I have in mind might be a bit more up your alley.
The Australia pack: this poster would be a bit more action-packed, as it would either show all of the animals jumping at the viewer, or it would be viewed from the side. Playing into the joke that Australian animals are overly aggressive. The Dingo would be mid-leap, the cassowary would be mid-kick, and the kangaroo would either be jump-kicking or balancing on it’s tail, the lizard would be on the bottom flashing its tongue, and the koala would be up top, arms outstretched, maybe make him look a little meaner to turn him into a “drop bear”
The South America pack: this pack would be far more subdued and unlike the others would be tall instead of wide. The picture would show a large tree in the center with the animals all representing different layers of the forest. The anteater would be digging into the ground, representing the subterranean layer. The llama would be reaching towards leaves on a branch that are just out of reach, representing the forest floor. The Jaguar would be sleeping on a branch towards the middle of the tree, representing the mid-layers. And the capuchin would be jumping from a branch towards the top of the image, representing the canopy. The tree frog would be sitting in the center of the tree keeping the viewers attention toward the middle so they have a reference point to go back to
The aquatic pack: this poster would be a shot showing what is a bove and below the water. The seal would be towards the dark bottom, with his big eyes illuminating in the darkness, the terrapin would be swimming towards the middle of the water column. The caiman would be at the surface, with only his eyes and nostrils above water, the otter would be mid-jump, with half of his body in the water, and the other half jumping out. And the penguin would be above everyone, with his wings outstretched as if he was flying, but disturbance in the water below him would show that he’s merely jumping out of the water
The southeast asia pack: this pack would take inspiration from where’s waldo in that, it would show a seemingly empty picture of a jungle, but the closer your look the more animals you see. The leaf bug would be in a bushel of leaves, the tapir and sun bear would at first apear be hidden, but their white markings start to look less like light and more like what they actually are. The clouded leopard would be covered by clouds, the babirusa’s tusk would appear in a spoliotch of grass, being the only curved blade in the bunch, revealing the pig’s body as the viewer looks closer. The bintourong ‘s tail would look like leaves in the foreground, but when you look closer you could see its face. The monkey’s tail would be drooping alongside a set of vines, blending in, only noticeable if you look closely. And what might seem like a rock at first, is actually a sleeping dhole
The africa pack: this would be a parody of a polaroid photo, looking like a picture some tourist took while on safari. It would depict the rhino sleeping in the center, unaware of what the other animals around it are doing. The meerkat would be on it’s back, standing on his hind legs, as if it were trying to get higher ground to see better. The penguin would be sliding down it’s side. The beetle would be rolling a ball of dung, far away from the other animals, and the fox would be putting it’s ear on the rhino’s chest, as if it’s checking to see if it’s asleep. The whole image would be bordered by a white frame as if it were a polaroid photo, perhaps even having an optional text box for people to put their own caption for the image
The north america pack: this would be a parody of a postcard, depicting a car driving through the north American landscape, the far right of the image would appear sandy and hot, like a desert, where it would transition into a forest, then a swamp, and a tundra on the far left, as if the car is driving through all american landscapes at once. The prairie dog would be sitting on a rock in the desert section, the puma would be looking back at the car in the forest section, the mose would bridge the forest to the samp by having it’s hind legs in the forest as its front legs enter the water. The peaver would be sitting on its dam, with the head of the alligator poking out of the water. Finally the arctic fox would be staring at the car from the top of a rock or cliff. Finally, as a finishing touch, the frog would be the hood ornament on the car
The Europe pack: this one would be a parody of a tourism advertisement, with it showing all of Europe’s great landmarks in one image with the animals posing on or in the monuments. The ibex could be climbing the leaning tower, the badger could be in front of big ben, the lynx could be standing in the beams of the eiffel tower ect. The reason I went this rout is because I wanted the North America and Europe posters to seem like counterparts to each other, both of them are poking fun at the tackiness of tourism, while still having their own flair. With the NA poster showing off America’s landscapes, representing it’s wilderness. While the Europe poster would have all of the landmarks to represent Europe’s strong and diverse culture.
The wetlands pack: this would borrow from both the South Amrica and aquatic packs, with it being tall instead of long, and starting off in the water and working it’s way out of it. At the bottom of the poster would be the newt, walking along the riverbed. Then the otter and platypus would be towards the center of the water column, making some kind of shape with the bodies, maybe a circle of a heart. The caiman would be higher in the column, not too far below the surface, staring up at the capybara, who’s head and back is above the water. The nile lechwe and water buffalo would be on the far left and right drinking from the water. And finally the crane would be flying above the water’s surface
The conservation pack: this one would be a parody of an awards show, with all of the animals earning awards of various kinds, since they all are victors in their own rights they overcame the odds and are slowly saving themselves from extinction. The horse would be holding a blue ribbon in it’s mouth. The leopard would be resting its head on a plaque or certificate, the oryx would have a gold medal around it’s neck. The siamang would be triumphantly holding a fancy belt above it’s head (maybe with the PZ logo on it), and the axolotol would be poking his head out of a large trophy filled with water
The twilight pack: this would of course be a halloween parody, with all of the animals dressed up as different monsters. The bat could be a vampire, the fox a werewolf, the raccoon a mummy (perhaps even using trash bags instead of bandages), the skunk would be a witch, and the wombat could be a yowie. Or another idea could be to have them all dress as each other, like the fox dressing up as the skunk for example
The grasslands DLC: this one would be another where’s waldo situation like the SEA pack. It would depict a tall, grassy field, and while it might look empty, you’d need to look closer. You’d see the ears of the maned wolf sticking out from the top of the grass. The tail of the armadillo blending in with the grass around it, the clouds would be in the shape of butterflies, the wildebeest’s horns would poke out from a distant patch. The emu would look like a buch because its laying down, the caracal’s eyes could be seen in the darkest patch. And the hyena’s markings would let it blend in with the surrounding grass.
And there we have it, those are my ideas for posters for each pack. I know it’s a wired idea but I would like to hear what you have to say on it, which one was your favorite, what would you change? I’d love to hear your thoughts
