Five ways to expand upon walk through exhibits (that aren't birds)

Post Body

So now that we have walk-through enclosures we have a whole new door opened up to us with various possibilities. Of course one of them is birds and I feel like that is so obvious that I don’t even need to mention them, so instead I’m going to go over five different possible uses for walk-through exhibits, that aren’t birds

5: gliding animals: so we’ve seen bats, we’re about to see butterflies, and birds are just around the corner, all of the flying animals are/will be accounted for. But what about gliding animals, I’ve seen this idea thrown around a bit and I feel like it would be a unique addition, I feel like the most requested gliding animal is the sugar glider, and it would definitely be my pick, but I also wouldn’t mind colugos or flying squirrels as well

4: sloths: so sloths are one of the more frequently asked for animals but I feel like they would be hard to implement as a main habitat animal considering they never go onto the ground and therefore you’d need to have prebuilt trees and bars for them to climb on, but I think that putting them in these walk through exhibits solves this problem, install some bars, allow them to climb on the mesh of the ceiling perhaps, badda bing, badda boom people can walk underneath sloths

3: big exhibits: I feel like some of the pre existing exhibit animals could be modified for walk through exhibits with a little creativity. The first thing that comes to my mind is pre made ponds, where the path would turn into a bridge for people to walk over and you could put, say diamondback terrapins or American bullfrogs in these ponds. Hell it would be a cool way to show these creature’s life cycles, like being able to watch bullfrog tadpoles swim, or watching turtles dig nests on the lake shores. I feel like you could do quite a bit with a little creativity

2: bees: I feel like this could be an opportunity to get some beehive based beesness to go down, perhaps there could be a garden in the exhibit and the bees could fly in and out of the exhibit itself. Perhaps show how the bees make honey, and maybe even have it be served as a snack for extra revenue. And to make sure its completely safe it could be a stingless bee species

Tanks: now this might sound crazy, but I think that the walk through exhibit could be easily converted to a tank tunnel, basically have the exhibit itself be turned into a massive glass box with a path going through it. Basically a more simplistic version of this

(i really hope that link works) and when it comes to tanks, the sky is the limit, fish tanks, exhibit tanks, dirt tanks for tunneling creatures. The possibilities really are endless.
