Would it be possible to have color variations on modded animals?

Now that we have new animal mods coming out basically daily, I'm curious on how far the modding community is willing to go. I've yet to see any color variations for any of the animal mods which I think would be interesting since that's one of my favorite parts of the Frontier animals.

Other things on my wishlist would also be if scratches/scars would be possible since you'd just need to overlay it over the models itself.

Not a modder so I have no idea how that would work, but I think it'd be a cool thing to see if it is possible.
