Screen replacement?

Shattered my screen the other day. Is it worth getting screen replaced or just buy the phone again? Does the replaced glass affect the waterproofing etc.
Cost i should be looking at? I'm assuming over half the value of the phone. In Australia if anyone here has replaced one.
