Love hate relationship with Pixel 6 pro camera

I completed one year owning Pixel 6 pro, but I still have a love hate for it's camera. I bought the device only for it.
Sometimes I get good shots, sometimes it over-processes it. My wife hates taking close up shots in it as it exposes all the pores and marks of the face.
Background blur looks so artificial. I feel my wife's OnePlus 7 pro takes better portrait with background blur.
I find the camera working well at 2x and manually processing RAW images.
Anyone else with the same or similar sentiment.
