Post Body

My 4a wont arrive till the first week of October but I wanted to share my past experience with google phones and remind folks that certain credit cards offer an extended warranty (1-2 yrs over manufacturer's 1yr). My tale is one full of woe and tears, starting with my first google phone the 6P.

Nexus 6p. Speaker issues within few months of purchase, RMA'd, and received a renewed/used phone that died due to boot loop, after warranty expiration. Google and Huawei kicked the can to each other and i ended up using my work phone for 1.5 yrs (forgot the exact time). Luckily received a class action settlement ($400) and decided to buy two Pixel 3s (Buy one for $800 2nd one free).

Pixel 3 (2nd phone): Right away had fingerprint scanner issues (whereas wife's didn't)...after a few months decided to RMA it, was a hassle. The replacement phone had the camera shake issue after 1 yr and 7-8months. No warranty coverage and YBIF was unable to repair. Luckily, given my past experience, I bought the Pixel 3 with Citi Double Cash credit card that has an extended warranty (2 extra yrs over manufacturers). I documented chats w/ Google Support, provided a statement of non-repair from YBIF, and received $600 from Citi card for my claim.

With this 4a, now, unfortunately, my Citi Double Cash stopped offering extended warranties, so i have to fall back to my BoA cash rewards card, which only has 1yr of extended warranty . I guess since my past google phones all failed within 2 years, given past history, chances are it'll be covered by the extended warranty.

I'm looking forward to my 4A but guys, for the love of god buy a Google phone with a credit card offering extended warranty (and dont sign up for Geek Squad protection, which is absolutely a rip-off).
