Just bought the Pixel 3a (my thoughts)
Post Body

I bought the 3a two days ago. I'm a Pixel fan boy so this may be a little biased but I want to give an honest review for people who want a Google Phone.

First off, the size of the 3a took getting used too coming from the 3XL and then going back to my 3XL but it's a great size. It's a little bigger than the Pixel 3 and feels really good in the hand. The display seems narrowed so typing on the display feels good and the device is light so it doesn't strain your hands.

The display isn't amazing but it looks better than every phone you can buy in America at this price. The text is extremely clear, colors are accurate, and there is no blue tint that plagued the Pixel 2 line.

When it comes to sound I have been impressed comparing it to my 3XL. I feel like the sound quality overall is more balanced and clearer. It may not get as loud but you have a headphone jack for that 😉

One thing that has frustrated me is the fact that I don't get updates directly from Google the day they are released. Since this is a T Mobile phone I have to wait for T Mobile approval before they send the update through.

Now the processor. I can tell the difference between the 3XL and the 3a and for the 600 dollar price difference I think you should be able too or else the flagship line would be dead. Every app I use it has handled well and better than average. There are occasional frame drops and stuttering but it doesn't affect overall performance and it shouldn't scare you away. If you want the best processor and best performance pay the premium price for the Pixel 4 in October.

Finally, the build quality is awesome. Yeah, it's plastic with coating that makes it look premium but you can't tell unless you examine it extremely closely. In durability tests I have watched the screen holds up the same to Gorilla glass in scratching but it is more susceptible to cracking with fall damage. I definitely recommend a case but I'm currently not using a screen protector and don't think it's that necessary unless you drop your phone often.

Overall this phone for the price is amazing. I have called around to a lot of the T Mobile carriers in my area and they have been selling these like crazy. I really think the Pixel 4 in October is going to be the best phone if executed released this year. The design renders I have seen look gorgeous and I think Google is on the right track releasing a budget and a premium model. This will make the software more available to the masses and this software is top tier.

If you haven't bought this phone already and are in the market for the best camera, stock Android, and Google experience this is the phone for you. If you want the top of the line specs wait until the P4.
