Aright so ive been scouring the internet with not much luck to try find cherrywood to carve a pipe out of. Not many blanks that ive seen on pimo or jhlowe and a few other sites. Mostly briar or morta. I know at my local woodcrafting store i can get cherry wood board that i believe has a thickness of 3/4 an inch. I figured i would turn here since pipe making doesnt seem to on here for some help. If anyone knows what i suppose is ideal measurements to start carving i would appreciate the help. I am posting this to several other boards/forums across the sites ive seen. Ive had the best luck hopefully reddit doesnt let me down. I want to make my own to start smoking, if its inadvisable to do so then oh well, carving my own is how i want to start my foray into this gentleman’s art of pipe smoking
