First Successful Bowl Smoking Questions

Hey all, I just finally smoked my first Successful Bowl, and I gotta say, it was interesting, the tobacco didn't really taste like much (but then again I didn't really hold it in my mouth very long) I got a bit of tongue bite that I'm feeling RN, and my chest kinda burns a bit which tells me I probably inhaled the smoke, you guys got any tips on how to avoid inhaling and is this how it's supposed to go the first time?
