In no specific order I present 10 cards I believe to be underrated in the format and should see more play. Please feel free to chime in with your own set of cards / critique my chosen ones.
1) Sheoldreds Edict: Black decks are still playing cards like PWK/GftT/Heartless Act while this is on the sidelines. In my experience this card hits some of the most played cards in the format without triggering ward. Sniping PWers has been fantastic. Rakdos players, try this out you wont be disappointed.
2) Malevolent Hermit: This could be because there isn't a blue based midrange deck and the other U tempo decks have copious counter options, but this guy hoses spell based combo, pressures control, and is a native 2:1 against the Bx midrange decks while answering Fable on the play. This card is likely to see more play.
3) Leyline Binding: Again, perhaps another card hurt by not having a popular deck in the format, but I think more than Omnath/EI/Fires decks can find space for this. It doesnt have to be one mana for it to be a premier removal. At 2 mana its still probably the best removal in the format. I think as mana bases get better this will see more play.
4) Invoke Despair: This might be silly to put a BBBB card on this list, but I think this should see play in any Bx midrange lists and currently Rakdos isn't playing this when Sheoldred into Invoke is the most powerful thing it could be doing. I think in time Rakdos will incorporate these especially when the deck filters a lot so its easy to throw one to the GY early game while giving you the best top decks mid and late game.
5) Lifebane Zombie: I am still baffled no one plays this in Bx SB's considering how prevalent decks like G devotion and Wx aggro is. This card is a huge hoser against G devo sniping Cavs and being unblockable taking out Karn on curve. I think given the meta this could is underrated.
6) Loran of the Third Path: There are a lot of important artifact and enchantments running around in the top decks (Most notably Fable of the Mirror Breaker). I'm surprised I dont see this card in any SBs at the least and given the meta I could easily see at least 1 in MBs. This effect on a 3 mana creature has been a staple in multiple formats at one time.
7) Dig Through Time: While I understand that UW lists play more permanent cards, its dumbfounding to only play 1. Very few lists play more and I feel like lists should play minimum 2. Same with UB lists that should play at least 3, but play 1-2. Currently UW lists telegraph Wandering Emperor too easily. More ways to punish folks in multiple ways would improve the deck, but maybe I'm wrong. Regardless the lack of DTT in the format is baffling.
8) Prowess Cards; Yea, Expressive Iteration ban hurt, but the deck is still great and while Reckless Impulse is worse, its not that much worse to go from being one of the better decks in the format to unplayed. I still believe this is the best TC deck in the format.
9) Gideon, Ally of Zendikar; I understand humans are all in on Wedding Announcement, but even niche decks like Orzhov midrange aren't playing him. He's still capable of taking over games and ending them on his own. In a format where there are a lot of midrange and control decks its surprising to not see him at least in SB's.
10) Collected Company; Still a beating and house against the midrangey/control format that pioneer is right now. Most formats have some form of creature combo and thats missing right now. Surprised this doesnt see more play.
Putting this together I realized how poor red is in the format right now. Without Fable and its few gold cards theres not much going on.
